‘I can feel you entering my bloodstream, taking over every cell.’

4/5 ⭐️

Not your typical romance story. It handles some very heavy topics beautifully and allows its characters to be vulnerable (I do love a good human-animal parallel). I really enjoyed getting many different perspectives and all the supporting characters were well developed (including the 5-year-old Poppy, which is rare!)

It was a little insta-lovey (the bulk of the story happens over a 3 week period), and the pacing was inconsistent but it was still a good read.
Will definitely be picking up the next book in this interconnected series as the author seems really good at handling tough topics and I just know Sierra’s and Benji’s story is going to break me. Although the age gap has me a bit nervous. It’s not big, it’s when they met that’s more of an issue (which also makes me think of the line from this book “It wouldn’t have mattered how much younger you were; this is happening”, and makes me a LITTLE worried about the author’s handling of age in her stories).
