Summary:
As an airline heiress, Imani Davies has spent her twenty-eight years on Earth living the high life – literally. Jet-setting across the globe on a whim, dining at the most exclusive restaurants and rubbing shoulders with the world’s elite. Imani has it all, and she’ll do pretty much anything to keep her tycoon father happy and maintain the status quo.
Except when her father proposes a marriage between herself and Asher Vouvalis, the enigmatic scion of the Vouvalis Hotel empire, Imani learns that she does, in fact, have a limit. Determined not to spend the rest of her life in a loveless marriage that only serves her father’s business, Imani conjures up a desperate lie.
Surely her father wouldn’t force her to marry her bitter ex . . . would he?

Review:
“It’s like I’m attuned to her presence the same way people can sense rain before the sky even starts to darken.”
Not Anise’s best. She usually has rich people as her protagonists but this one felt jarring. I’m sorry but I simply cannot bring myself to empathise with struggles of the 1% in the current economic climate. Maybe this book is just coming out at a wrong time.
The chemistry was definitely there but the book suffers from the fact that the side characters are a lot more interesting than our main couple. I would’ve loved to see more Teddy! The plot was promising, a twist on fake dating usually delivers but the MCs staging public arguments for literal months got boring after a while. And we just sped through the third act.
I also feel like the quality of writing has fallen slightly since the first three books? Or maybe that’s just me.
